Building first-generation wealth

Nobody handed you a playbook. This service is the playbook — built for the family whose parents couldn't teach investing because nobody taught them.

The short answer

This is our core work: helping people who are the first in their family to invest — first brokerage account, first 401(k) decisions, first time money has to think past the next emergency. A fee-only fiduciary, no account minimum, $50 a month to stay, everything available in English or Spanish, and no question treated as too basic.

Who this is for

The nurse whose 401(k) forms have sat unread because nobody at home can sanity-check them. The couple supporting parents in two countries while trying to save for their own retirement. The twenty-something with a first real paycheque and a feed full of contradictory advice. Norwalk is a city of first-generation wealth, and the standard industry answer — a $250,000 minimum or a commissioned salesperson — is exactly what this firm was built to replace. Why our minimum is zero →

What happens, step by step

  1. Start where you are. A conversation, in either language, about what's actually going on — debts, remittances, the job, the family obligations. Nothing needs to be organised first, and nobody gets judged.
  2. Order of operations. Emergency cushion, employer match, high-interest debt, then investing — the sequence matters more than the products, and we put yours in writing.
  3. Open the first account. Usually a Roth IRA or a managed brokerage account, opened with whatever you have — the minimum is $0 — and funded at $50 a month or more, because the habit is the strategy.
  4. Handle the workplace pieces. We read your 401(k) menu with you, set the contribution (the 2026 limit is $24,500, though the right number for most people starts much smaller), and fix the beneficiary forms almost everyone skips.
  5. Bring the family in. When you want a spouse, parent or sibling in the room — in Spanish, in the evening — that's normal here, not an accommodation.

What it costs

Our investment-management fee is up to 2.00% of the assets we manage per year, subject to negotiation, generally billed quarterly in arrears and disclosed in writing before we begin. The firm may waive all or part of its fee. Brokerage, transaction, fund and ETF expenses may apply separately. The complete published schedule → On a small account that percentage is a small dollar amount — about $10 a month on $6,000 at our top rate — and we'd rather you see that arithmetic up front than discover it later.

What this does not include

  • No get-rich products. No crypto schemes, no whole-life policies sold as investments, no trading systems. Boring, diversified, explained.
  • No promises. Investing involves risk; a $50-a-month habit is powerful but not guaranteed to reach any particular number.
  • No immigration, tax or legal advice — cross-border money questions get coordinated with the right professionals, and we'll say when you need one.

Common questions

I'm starting from nothing. Is this for me?

Yes — it is the reason the page exists. No minimum to open, $50 a month after that, and a fiduciary who explains every step in plain English or Spanish.

Will you put me in something that makes money fast?

No. No crypto schemes, no whole-life policies sold as investments, no trading systems. Boring, diversified, explained.

Is $50 a month really worth it?

The habit is powerful and the arithmetic is on screen in our calculators — but it is not guaranteed to reach any figure. Investing involves risk.

The first conversation is the hardest step

Fifteen minutes, free, English or Spanish, evenings by video. Come as you are — that's the point.
