Are all financial advisors in Commerce, CA fiduciaries?

No. In Commerce the question really has two audiences, because the city's jobs vastly outnumber its roughly 12,000 residents: the crews on distribution and rail-yard payrolls, and the owners who sign those payrolls. Both get pitched retirement products by salespeople whose legal obligation ends at "suitable" — a far weaker promise than the fiduciary duty to put your interests first at all times.

Aduna Capital carries that fiduciary duty always. We are a registered investment adviser and fee-only: clients pay us, and nobody else does — no fund company, no recordkeeper, no insurer. Our record is public at adviserinfo.sec.gov; check it, and check anyone else you interview the same way.

Who we work with in Commerce

Commerce is an employer city more than a residential one — the Citadel Outlets, the rail yards, and heavy distribution operations sit alongside a small resident base of about 12,145 people, a median household income of $77,064, and a 97.0% Hispanic or Latino population, one of the highest shares in the county. Even the Chamber of Commerce here is industrial-focused. So the work splits cleanly:

  • Distribution and industrial employers. Warehouses and rail-adjacent operations with hourly, high-turnover payrolls now sit squarely inside the state retirement mandate. Plan design that survives turnover — eligibility rules, payroll integration, enrollment that works on a dock — is the conversation. CalSavers for Commerce employers is the place to start.
  • Retail and outlet workers. Citadel Outlets and corridor retail staff with a 401(k) from one job, nothing from the next, and no one who has ever explained either. Consolidating old accounts by direct transfer is usually the first fix.
  • Resident families building a first portfolio. In a community this heavily Spanish-speaking, we do first accounts, Roth IRAs and plain-language planning in either language — with $0 to open and $50 a month ongoing, because almost nobody here clears a big firm's minimum, and that is the big firms' failure, not yours.

Common questions from Commerce

I run a warehouse operation in Commerce. Does the state mandate really apply to me?

Almost certainly — as of 2026 it reaches every California employer with one or more employees. You either register with CalSavers or sponsor a qualified plan and certify an exemption; ignoring it eventually costs up to $750 per eligible employee. Which route is cheaper depends on your payroll, and we run that comparison at no charge.

My crew is mostly Spanish-speaking. Will enrollment actually work?

Only if it happens in Spanish — a plan a crew cannot read produces opt-outs, not savings. We run enrollment meetings bilingually, on-site, on the shift schedule that actually exists.

¿Hablan español?

Sí — la llamada inicial, las reuniones y los documentos, todo puede ser en español. Vea nuestra página en español.

I have three old 401(k)s from different warehouse jobs. What should I do?

Bring the statements. Sometimes consolidating into an IRA is right; sometimes an old plan is cheap enough to leave alone. Either way, any move should be a direct transfer — never a cheque made out to you.

Do you work with employees, or just the companies?

Both, separately. We design plans for employers, and we advise individual workers and families with no account minimum. What we never do is take money from a plan provider to steer either one.

Aduna Capital LLC is registered as an investment adviser in California and maintains its principal office in Norwalk — we do not have an office in Commerce. We are not affiliated with the Citadel Outlets, the City of Commerce, the Commerce Chamber of Commerce, any railroad or distribution company, or CalSavers.
