Are all financial advisors in La Mirada, CA fiduciaries?
No — and it is worth two minutes to understand why before you hire anyone, including us. Anybody can print "financial advisor" on a card. The legal question is whether the person owes you a fiduciary duty — an obligation to put your interests first, always — or merely a duty to sell you something "suitable" while being paid by the product's manufacturer.
Aduna Capital is a registered investment adviser and a fiduciary at all times, fee-only, with no commissions or product revenue of any kind. Our registration is public at adviserinfo.sec.gov.
Who do we work with in La Mirada?
La Mirada is the steadiest of our neighbouring cities: about 48,000 residents, a median household income of $109,288, high owner-occupancy, and a base of professionals and contractors clustered near the 5/91 interchange. It shares a school district with us — Norwalk–La Mirada Unified — and hosts Biola University and the La Mirada Theatre.
What that mix sends us:
- Homeowner households planning in decades. High owner-occupancy means equity, college timelines and retirement dates all on one kitchen table. We build the plan around the house rather than pretending it isn't most of the net worth.
- Contractors and the self-employed. The 5/91 corridor's contractors and owner-operators have the widest retirement-plan menu of anyone — SEP IRA, Solo 401(k), SIMPLE — and usually nobody has ever compared them honestly. If they hire even one employee, the state mandate applies too. CalSavers for La Mirada employers explains.
- NLMUSD educators and Biola staff. District teachers are CalSTRS members — same district, same staff-lounge 403(b) products we review constantly from the Norwalk side. Biola's faculty and staff bring university-plan questions: 403(b) menus, vesting and rollovers between institutions.
La Mirada employers and institutions we know
Norwalk–La Mirada USD staff
Our own district. CalSTRS structures, service credit, survivor elections — and the 403(b) cost review that pays for itself.
Biola University staff
University 403(b) menus, vesting rules, and direct-transfer rollovers when careers move between institutions.
Contractors & trades businesses
Solo 401(k) versus SEP for the owner alone; mandate compliance the moment a first employee is hired.
Established households
Retirement planning that counts the house, the pension and the portfolio together — not three separate sales pitches.
Fifteen minutes, no cost, no obligation
Bring the kitchen-table pile — statements, the 403(b), the questions. Sorting it is our job.

Where we meet La Mirada clients
We do not have an office in La Mirada, and we will not pretend otherwise with a map pin. our principal office is in Norwalk:
Aduna Capital LLC
12838 Rosecrans Ave, Norwalk, CA 90650
(657) 571-2607
Rosecrans runs straight from La Mirada to our door; the 5 works from the north end. That is roughly 5.7 miles from La Mirada. Clients either come to us — on Rosecrans between Pioneer and Studebaker, with parking on site — or we come to you, at your home or your place of business. Evening appointments are available for people who cannot get away during the working day.
Common questions from La Mirada
I'm a contractor with two employees. What does the state actually require of me?
As of 2026, every California employer with at least one employee must either register with CalSavers or sponsor a qualified plan and certify an exemption. Doing nothing eventually costs up to $750 per eligible employee. For many owner-operators the better answer is a plan that also serves you — we run the comparison at no charge.
My spouse teaches in NLMUSD. Can you look at both our retirements together?
That is exactly how we prefer to work. A CalSTRS pension changes what the other spouse's 401(k) and Social Security should do, and survivor elections should never be made in isolation. We model the household, not the account.
We're fine day to day — why would we need an advisor?
Maybe you don't, and we will say so if that is true. The families who get the most from us have several moving pieces — home equity, a pension, college timelines, ageing parents — and want one coherent plan instead of five products. The first look costs nothing.
Do you charge to review a 403(b) or old 401(k)?
No. Bring the statement; we will tell you what it costs, what it does, and whether it belongs in your plan — with no obligation attached.
